Condition

The catalogue illustration is much too greenish. The drawing is actually more brown and brighter. In the catalogue, we are missing 1 cm wide all around the drawing (white strip) A few spots speaded out around the sheet visible. Some inscriptions and numbers have been added in pencil on the upper white strip. Very good overall condition.

Le dessin représente l'épisode célèbre de la conversion de Saül, futur Saint Paul, sur le chemin de Damas, racontée dans les Actes des Apôtres (9, 3-4):
Au moment où il approchait de la ville, le général romain fut ébloui par une lumière venant du ciel: aveuglé, il tomba de son cheval et entendit une voix qui lui dit : "Saül, Saül, pourquoi me persécutes-tu?".
