Catalogue Note
A New Zealander by birth, the architect Keith Murray was employed by Royal Brierley as a freelance designer in 1932 and was retained by the firm for approximately 2 months per year with the provision that he should design glass only for them. He continued to work for the firm until the outbreak of the Second World War, producing about 50 new designs each year. The largest part of Murray's design output shows just how far he was influenced by contemporary Swedish design, particularly in form, decoration and colour.
