the cartouche shaped case surmounted by a neo-classical urn with flaming finial, containing the white enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, above ribbon-tied trophies representing Music and the Sciences, with pierced sides on splayed feet, the case applied with acanthus sprays and scrolls, the tapering bracket centred by a grotesque mask with a foliate finial, the whole decorated with gilt star motifs on a green ground; decoration refreshed
