the rectangular triple panelled headboard centered by a boss flanked by cherubs holding a wreath terminating in scrolling foliage and flowerheads, with a patera header above each post, with a similarly mounted footboard, the top-rails applied with a patera within a square reserve with concave corners, on square tapering legs terminating in block feet, the whole with gilt-bronze banding

Gervais-Maximilien-Eugène Durand, was born in Paris in 1839 and was established at 12 rue de la Cerisaie, then rue Beautreillis from 1878, then at 62, rue Saint-Antoine around 1900. The firm then took the name, "Durand et Fils". They exhibited in the Exhibition of 1889 where they obtained a silver medal.  A. Picard, reported as follows, `M. Durand, ébeniste aussi habile que modeste, expose pour la première fois des meubles de premier ordre, dont il est à la fois le dessinateur et l'exécutant; il marche sur la voie tracée par les maîtres tels que Beurdeley et Dasson.'
