Description

  • Framed: (135cm. high, 105cm. wide; 4ft. 5in., 3ft. 5in.); Textile visible: (112cm. high, 82cm. wide; 3ft. 8in., 2ft. 8in.)
worked in polychrome wool, silk and chenille threads, applied with shaped worked canvas motifs in tent stitch in gros and petit point, the composition with a profile of a perched hawk on a branch, with stumpwork passion fruit flowers and additional embroidered and trailing stems, with a surrounding exuberant swag of exotic flowers including lilies, worked in stumpwork in polychrome chenille and silk threads, mounted onto a natural coloured unworked canvas, now mounted in a later square carved gilt wood un-glazed frame
