Description

  • Framed: (84cm. high, 66cm. wide; 2ft. 9in., 2ft. 2in.); Textile visible: (62cm. high, 44.5cm. wide; 2ft., 1ft. 5in.)
worked in polychrome wool threads with a central vase, simulating gilt-bronze mounted marble, with a bouquet of flowers with large colourful flowerheads including a tulip, blue-bells and a sunflower, with a few floral sprigs scattered around the base on the supporting shelf, which is signed in yellow threads, Sarah Davisson, with two butterflies and two pendant floral swags held from each top corner and held in the centre by a scrollwork motif, all on a tobacco coloured ground, now mounted in a later carved giltwood and glazed frame
