Description

  • 218cm. long, 180cm. wide; 7ft. 2in., 5ft. 1in.
worked in polychrome silk threads with a central pelican perched on an island with a large flowerhead to each side, above and below and surrounded by delicate budding foliate trails, each corner embroidered with a rockwork mound from which floral branches emanate and which supports a simurgh bird with elaborate tail feathers, all on a cream `false quilted' ground, within a narrow border of alternating berry and leaf design, and four-sided outer border with scrolling foliate and flowering trail on plain cream cotton ground
