Description

  • Framed: (80cm. high, 57cm. wide; 2ft. 7in., 1ft. 10in.); one design: (51cm. long, 12.5cm. wide; 1ft. 8in., 4in.); the narrower example: (53cm. long, 11cm. wide; 1ft. 9in., 4.1/2 in. )
these transportable folding and hanging pockets, comprising of three square sections, and the demi-lune end sections, each finely worked in polychrome silk threads on felt with floral and foliate motifs, the top section of one is dated with an `80' above a loose knot and underneath a coronet, and enclosed between laurel branches, the other demi-lune end has several layers or felt, in which to attach pins and needles, the sections ground colours alternating from yellow to white, the other narrower example is dated June 2. 1828, and worked with a lady and man holding hands above, the section below with a coronet flanked by flowers, the other panels incorporate pairs of birds and a vase of flowers, all on a tobacco coloured ground, both now mounted together in a later giltwood and glazed frame (Qty 2)
