Description

the case with a stepped domed hood with later gilt-lacquered silvered foliate ornamented vase form finials above an eleven and one quarter inch brass dial, with silvered chapter ring with a matte centre within a cast and pierced brass scrolled foliate and mask ornamented spandrels, with subsidiary seconds’ dial and calendar aperture, surmounted by a demi-lune cast pierced brass scrolled foliate tympanum engraved within an oval David Lestourgeon / London, and within engaged turned columns; the waist door with lenticle and raised on a plinth; the whole profusely inlaid with marquetry with scrolled foliate acanthus, flowers and birds, the movement striking on one bell, the case with restorations, particularly to the plinth
