Centring on a cushion-shaped alexandrite weighing 16.06 carats, within a frame set with brilliant-cut diamonds, mounted in 18 karat pink gold.

Condition

Colour and Clarity: According to both Gubelin report, the alexandrite is natural, displaying pronounced colour change between bluish green (daylight) and purple (incandescent light). GRS report states that this alexandrite is natural, with no indication of treatments and colour changing from brownish bluish green to red. Please refer to the reports for details. In our opinion, the alexandrite displays bluish green under daylight and slightly purplish red under incandescent light. Very clean to both naked eyes and 10x check, with pleasing square cushion outline and good brilliance. Diamonds in the surround are probably of G to H colours, VS to SI1 clarity. Condition: In mint condition.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. Illustrations in the catalogue may not be actual size. Prospective purchasers are reminded that, unless the catalogue description specifically states that a stone is natural, we have assumed that some form of treatment may have been used and that such treatment may not be permanent. Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.
