Of floral design, centring on an oval cabochon sapphire weighing 9.77 carats, surrounded by pavé-set brilliant-cut diamond petals, accentuated with pear-shaped rose-cut diamonds, the diamonds together weighing approximately 2.00 carats, mounted in 18 karat white gold.

Condition

Colour and Clarity: According to Gubelin report, the cabochon sapphire is natural, of Burmese origin, with no indications of thermal enhancement. Please refer to the report for details. In our opinion, the sapphire is of medium to medium dark, intense blue colour, very clean to both naked eyes and 10x check, with nice internal glow. There is only one minor surface reaching natural fingerprint to the side under 10x loupe, which is not noticeable in face-up 10x observation and not seen to naked eyes. Diamonds in the surround are probably of F colour, VS clarity. Condition: Feminine ring mount, in mint condition.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. Illustrations in the catalogue may not be actual size. Prospective purchasers are reminded that, unless the catalogue description specifically states that a stone is natural, we have assumed that some form of treatment may have been used and that such treatment may not be permanent. Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.

Catalogue Note

Ring size: 5½

Accompanied by Gübelin report numbered 0703809, dated 20 March 2007, stating that the 9.77 carat sapphire is natural, of Burmese (Myanmar) origin, with no indications of heating. Sapphires which have not been heated are scarce.
