The brooch of floral design set throughout with old mine-cut diamonds, centring on a large blossom mounted en tremblant with an old mine-cut diamond weighing approximately 1.70 carats, framed by buds and leaves, and decorated en pampille with detachable articulated trailing vines and swags of floral and foliate motifs, mounted in silver-topped gold.
Condition
Colour and Clarity: In our opinion, the largest old-mine cut diamond set in the middle of the en tremblant flowerhead is probably of K colour, SI clarity. The other old-cut diamonds are about J to slightly yellowish colours, SI to I clarity, bright and brilliant stones. A few small diamonds may have chipped crowns, which is very common to old diamonds and consistent with their age. The surrounding diamonds together weigh approximately 6.00 carats. All the articulated fringes can be detached to form a simple spray flower brooch.
Condition: Signs of solder repair to the reverse, but not seen to the front or when worn. Minor signs of wear and abrasion to the gold mount, which is consistent with age, otherwise in very good condition.
