GEM-SET, OPAL AND DIAMOND 'DRAGONFLY' BROOCH

Of realistic design, the wings highlighted by cabochon jelly opals accented by circular-cut diamonds, the body centring on a sugar loaf cabochon emerald and further decorated by circular-cut sapphires and diamonds, enhanced by cabochon sapphire-set eyes, the opals together weiging approximately 9.00 carats and emerald approximately 2.00 carats, mounted in 18 karat yellow gold.

Colour and Clarity: In our opinion, the cabochon opals have milky bodycolour with moderate to noticeable blue and green play-of-colour. Generally, all opals are still in good condition. Under 10x loupe, some stones show surface abrasions and two to three may have slight internal cracks which do not affect the structure of entire gem and are consistent to its age and use. The sugarloaf emerald is of medium, intense green colour, slightly included to naked eyes, and may show some minor surface reaching clarity features under 10x loupe. Sapphires are of medium dark blue colour, eye clean, together weighing approximately 1.00 carat. Diamonds are probably of I to J colours, VS2 to SI1 clarity, together weighing approximately 1.00 carat. Condition: Vintage piece shows normal signs of wear, otherwise in good condition.
