Catalogue Note
Having started his career under the auspices of some of the world's leading jewelry houses including Harry Winston and Bulgari, Fawaz Gruosi founded de Grisogono in 1993. Well known for his pioneering use of black diamonds, Gruosi does not surrender to current fashion, preferring instead to draw inspiration from nature and everyday objects. A self-professed perfectionist, he balances the intuition that drives his designs with an insistence on excellence of execution. This marriage of fine craftsmanship and aesthetic instinct is clearly rendered in the present suite of jewelry; it is precious and important while retaining a delicate femininity. The naturalistic vinework with its fanciful interplay between yellow and white pavé-set diamonds is anchored by clusters of large rose-cut diamonds, lending the pieces both a sense of whimsy and solidity. Sotheby's is please to offer this fine example of the innovative work produced by the house of de Grisogono.
