Catalogue Note

These earclips, designed by the silver artist Jean E. Puiforcat ( 1897-1945) were formerly the property of the German painter, interior architect and designer Gebhard Duve who worked for Puiforcat, one of the oldest and most revered French manufacturers of silverware which exists to this day, having been founded in 1820. Puiforcat occasionally designed jewellery, and worked closely with several of the leading jewellery creators of the day, including Jean Fouquet and Raymond Templier. Jewellery by Puiforcat is very rarely seen today.
