Catalogue Note

Second English edition. The manuscript of this work was found among the papers of Palafox y Mendoza, Bishop of Puebla, Mexico, when he died. During his lifetime he had been in correspondence, via the Philippines, with China, from where he received news twice a year. From these letters he compiled this history, together with an analysis of the final Ming years, based on Montanus.
