Catalogue Note
first edition. Moryson wrote his account of his travels in Latin and then translated them into English himself. The first part recounts his travels in Europe and the Near East; part two is largely about the Nine Years' War seen from the point of view of Sir Charles Blount, for whom Moryson had worked between 1599 and 1602; the third part is composed of essays on the difficulties of travel, geography and national differences. A fourth part, which survived in manuscript only, was published in 1903, entitled Shakespeare's Europe.
