Catalogue Note

Published towards the end of the War of the Spanish Succession, this volume contains Fricx’s wall-map of the theatre of war, and his highly important series of maps and battles of the war, originally published separately as ‘news-maps’ of the course of the war, several with the letterpress texts present, not only forming a very important contemporary cartographic record of the events of the war, but also an important snapshot of the towns and cities of the Low Countries, with detailed plans, inter-alia, of Antwerp, Brussels, Ghent, Lille and so on.
