Catalogue Note
The title gives the author as Captain Chauchard and on ABPC (and some other sources) the full name is given as Jean Baptiste Hippolyte Chauchard, but Tooley's Dictionary of Mapmakers (revised edition 1999) names the author as Captain C.A. Chauchard. The only Jean Baptiste Hippolyte Chauchard included in the Dictionnaire de Biographie Française (Paris, 1959) lived from 1808 to 1877.
