Although this picture has not been examined out of its frame, the painting appears to be in beautiful state. The canvas seems to be unlined and the paint layer is very stable, despite the fact that Tamayo employed a lot of sand and novel techniques in this particular picture. There are no retouches and the painting does not appear to be noticeably dirty. If any little specks of sand have been knocked off during this painting's history, it would not be surprising, but the only instance where possible loss has occurred is in the lower right leg of the figure on the right. Nonetheless, the painting is in beautiful state and should be hung as is. (This condition report has been provided courtesy of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.)
