Catalogue Note
The Müller mark is used into the 1790s, long after the probable death of Martin Friedrich Müller (b. 1706). The firm was continued by one or more of his sons (see Scheffler, pp. 116-122). Scheffler lists a rococo-form Hanukah lamp by Muller (p. 120).
A similar Berlin silver tree-form lamp by Georg Wilhelm Margraff, Berlin, c. 1776, was sold Sotheby's, June 23, 1983, lot 466 and cover.
