the backplate with crowned cartouche chased with a menorah, flanked by lion supporters, the hinged cover to lamp compartment engraved with lozengework, on four claw and ball feet, marked with maker and city mark on backplate, inside base compartment and on cover, with servant light by Rudiger Herfurth, Frankfurt, c. 1770

as noted re: servant light, minor repairs to edge of backplate, which also has a drilled hole at each side, probably for reinforcing backplate or to hang on wall
