signed Girometti in capital letters as Pietro Girometti son of well known Giuseppe Girometti

Catalogue Note
Pietro Girometti nasce a Roma nel 1811, e` figlio del celebre Giuseppe Girometti dal quale apprende le innovazioni nella tecnica del cammeo e la resa nell`intaglio dei colori delle pietre dure. Collabora con il padre nell`incisione dei cammei e per questo motivo sono poche le opere che gli si possono attribuire con certezza perche` firmava con il solo cognome, nonostante la morte sopraggiunga nel 1859, la sua produzione e` vasta e spazia dalle medaglie commemorative, nove delle quali pontificie e diversi i ritratti.
