Description
The jabot pin depicting a white ensign to the left hand side, decorated with rose-cut diamonds and buff-top sapphires and rubies, to the right hand side the flag of the Royal Yacht Squadron similarly-set with rubies and diamonds, applied to the centre with the royal coronet, case by Garrard & Co Ltd, 24, Albemarle Street, W.; together with a military brooch from The Royal Horse Guards, set throughout with single- and circular-cut diamonds, decorated with blue and red enamel, fitted case by Asprey, 166 Bond Street, London.
Condition
Jabot pin: Diamonds bright and lively throughout, please note it is not possible to give an estimated weight on these stones due to the cut. Rubies a medium purplish (pinkish) red hue, medium saturation of colour, typical inclusions visible with a 10x lens, well matched, one on the white ensign chipped, sapphires a medium blue hue with moderate saturation of colour, typical inclusions visible with magnification, well matched. Screw fitting not very secure, could benefit from attention by a jeweller. Small traces of gold solder to reverse of Royal Yacht Squadron flag, not visible when worn. Royal Horse Guards military brooch: Diamonds bright and lively throughout. Enamel in very good condition. Order of the Garter motto round edge reads, Honi soit qui mal y pense depicted in gold letters. The motto is Old French for 'shame upon him who thinks evil of it'. Both pieces in very good condition.
