Description
The gold mesh bag to an ornate pierced frame of foliate design, decorated to the front at intervals with collet-set, circular- and step-cut synthetic emeralds, with a central opening clasp embellished with two cabochon emeralds, to a fetter link chain, measurements approximately 145mm x 105mm, French assay marks, together with a coin purse to a curved pierced frame decorated with acanthus leaf motif, measurements approximately 70mm x 60mm, French assay marks, part illustrated.
Condition
Lady's evening bag: Estimated to weigh approximately 230.9 grams. Emerald thumbpieces a pale green with low saturation of colour, typical inclusions visible with the naked eye, some surface reaching inclusions. Synthetic emeralds in good condition. One link a little bent. Evidence of tarnish especially to interior, could benefit from a professional clean. Strong closing mechanism. Coin purse: Estimated to weigh approximately 49.3 grams. One side with a visible indentation. Tarnished throughout could benefit from a professional clean. Firm closing mechanism. Both pieces in good condition.
