Description

Designed as a serpent decorated with Royal blue enamel and rose-cut diamond detail, the serpent's head set with graduated circular-cut and cushion-shaped diamonds to a principal pear-shaped stone, the eyes embellished with cabochon rubies, circumference approximately 140mm, inscribed to the underside 'Mary Jane Head from her affectionate Mother, Louisa Anne Garnett. 4th March 1847,' fitted case by Green & Ward, London. 

Condition

Estimated total diamond weight approximately 5.0 - 5.5 carats, of mixed colours and clarities. The central pear-shaped stone measuring approximately 13.1mm x 7.7mm x 4.2mm estimated to weigh approximately 2.98 carats, estimated colour J/K, estimated clarity VS. Some loss to the enamel in several places especially near to the hinges, and to uppermost section of coiled tail near to the head of the serpent. Flexible. Scratches to polished metal consistent with age and wear. In overall very good condition.
