ONYX, ENAMEL AND DIAMOND DESK CLOCK, CARTIER, 1920s

The circular dial decorated with pale green guilloché enamel, to a white enamel chapter ring, applied with Roman numerals, interspersed with engraved flower head motifs, the hands millegrain-set with rose-cut diamonds, to a carved onyx case highlighted by similarly-cut stones to each corner, measuring approximately 73mm x 73mm, signed Cartier N.Y. and numbered, fitted case by Cartier New York.

Hinged easle moves easily, inscribed E.W & C. Co INC, numbered 323, France. The clock movement case and foot probably brass, with scratches and tarnish consistent with age and use. Fitted case with some scratches to exterior, silk interior a little worn and Cartier details rubbed, velvet stained beneath clock, hinged catch. Back of case stamped Cartier, Made in France, with easle stand. Weighing approximately 191.8 grams. In excellent condition.
