LADY'S SILK, GEM-SET AND ENAMEL EVENING PURSE, CARTIER, 1930s

Description

The rectangular red, black and gold silk exterior, suspending a tassel with a carved jadeite cap and fringes of seed pearls interspersed with tourmaline beads, to a central pink tourmaline drop, opening to reveal a suede interior, the main compartment with two side pockets, one containing a pouch, the other a suede backed hand mirror, measuring approximately 160mm x 120mm x 50mm, signed Cartier Ltd, Made in France, French assay marks.

Condition

Tourmalines a very light purplish red, weak saturation of colour, typical inclusions visible to the naked eye on central drop. Jadeite cap a very light green, small darker green flecks visible with magnification. Seed pearls off round, well matched in size and colour, some with rosé overtones. Chip to enamel decoration on bail suspending pendant. Silk with small rubbed areas, discolouration and a couple of small snags, consistent with age and wear. Suede interior slightly discoloured to upper edges. Zip opening very smooth. The tassel has been restrung recently. In overall good condition.
