Description
Of open work scrolled design in the form of a stylised Greek cross, set to the centre and to the cardinal points with oval- and cushion-shaped aquamarines, highlighted by circular-cut sapphires, hinged pendant loop fitting, detachable brooch fitting, maker's marks for Child & Child; the second brooch designed as a stylised flower head, set with mixed-cut peridot, highlighted by circular- and single-cut diamonds, one diamond deficient, hinged pendant loop fitting, detachable brooch fitting, peridot and diamond brooch illustrated on page 98.
Condition
Child & Child brooch/pendant: Mounted in silver and gold. Child & Child maker's mark in two places, one on the brooch fitting and one on the frame. The aquamarines a very light greyish-blue hue with low saturation of colour, with some small abrasions to facet junctions and underside visible with magnification, well matched. Sapphires a pale blue with low saturation of colour, well matched in size and colour, typical inclusions visible with a 10x lens. Pendant fitting a little stiff. Silver mount a little tarnished and with scratches consistent with age and wear. Peridot brooch/pendant: Mounted in silver and gold. Diamonds bright and lively, the peridots a medium yellowish green hue with moderately strong saturation of colour, abraded facet junctions only visible with magnification. Scratches and indentations to mount consistent with age and wear. Both pieces in very good condition.
