Catalogue Note
In 1985 Reeb introduced the motif of the "Green Line", Israel's border until the Six-Day War, into his oeuvre. Since then it has re-apperaed frequently in a variety of compositions. 'The Line always appears accentuated, painted in bold green, like a twisted ribbon laid blatantly over the painting, yet disconnected from it. The Line is not painted according to the geographical map, but from memory. Reeb paints it as a symbol over landscapes, city streets, still-lifes, portraits, press photographs and animals, whether they be everyday subjects or taken from art history.
