Catalogue Note

Yigal Zalmona refers to the artist's work from this period: "In the 1970s-1980s Streichman continued to codify the artistic language he had invented in the 1960s. His work becomes freer and more colorful. His painting is generally more airy and "hazy". He continues at the same time in two characteristic past directions: one quick and spontaneous, the other slow, based on the saturation of the paint and the gradual formation of layers of form and color... White has become a dominant color, together with large exposed areas of canvas." (Yigal Zalmona in Yehezkel Streichman (exhibition catalogue), Israel Museum, Jerusalem, 1987).
