Catalogue Note
This important and rare painting belongs to Simon's Kibbutz Gan Shmuel period and depicts a kibbutz family during their leisure time. In this work, the artist portrays the intellectual character of the socialist worker as well as emphasizes the Zionist ideals of continuity and the second generation. The black contours show the influence of George Rouault.
