Catalogue Note
Toren had no formal art training. Since 1967 he has participated in many solo exhibitions in Europe and in Israel including the Serpentine, London (1976) the ICA, London (1979) as well as group exhibitions including the 1984 Venice Bienniale. He participated in several John Moores exhibitions, winning prizes in 1989 and 1999. Toren lives and works in London and has influenced a generation of British artists who emerged in the late 80s and early 90s.
The present work, derived from Toren's earlier 'Armchair Paintings' series, is part of a 9-work project created in collaboration with Loushy Art & Projects.
