Catalogue Note

Esther Dotan discusses another work by Pesach Slabovsky and notes: "Slabovsky's works deviate from the traditional rectangular shape of their canvas; their chaotic formats and viewer-friendly dimensions as well as their mud-like material quality... contradict the notion of the sublime... In many of his compositions, the intimate atmosphere is enhanced by the use of everyday scenes from his immediate environment, and especially by the colloquial and often humoristic nature of his titles, or of the words scribbled on his canvases." (Esther Dotan quoted in Mordechai Omer (ed.), Highlights from the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, 2005, page 357).
