Nasreen Mohamedi (1937 - 1990)

Nasreen Mohamedi’s work, a sublime, nature-based abstraction, explores space and perspective with a serene secularity  'treating nature as metaphor in the expanded field of the lyric image.  What she does with the utopian language of abstraction, subliminally figuring in her imagination, is to both turn it into a bodily experience, and to give it pure opticality.'  (Geeta Kapur in ‘Nasreen in Retrospect’, p.16). Nasreen’s fascination with technology: precision apparatus and architectural drawings is also reflected in this work.
