Catalogue Note

Mr. and Mrs. Sydney G. Biddle were old friends of Hunt Diederich and his Russian born wife Mariska and met them again in Paris in 1911-12. The Hunts were then part of the circle around Modigliani and Beatrice Hastings and owned several drawings they had acquired from the artist. A few years later, Sydney Biddle acquired around 30 drawings directly from Mariska.
