Catalogue Note
Johannes Molzahn's work has been described as Cubo-Futuristic combining the figurative with the abstract. He employs a powerful vocabulary of repetitive patterns emphasizing geometric form. The spirals struggle to maintain their distinction from the maze-like elements surrounding them, placed spatially in an environment composed of disjunctured fragments of rectangles, trapezoids and triangles. Yet, as the title, Curves II, confirms they are the focus of the work, structuring the composition from within the munificent geometric forms.
