Condition
The canvas is not relined. The work has a layer of varnish which is dirty throughout. There is extensive craquelure to the centre of the composition. There is a patch to the reverse of the canvas corresponding to an area of restoration, centre left. Ultraviolet light reveals further scattered spots of retouching to the edges and a larger patch to the centre of the right hand margin. However, the varnish may mask further restoration.
