Condition

The canvas is not lined. There are two pinholes at the centre of the left and right edges. There are 3 small areas of bumpiness at the lower centre of the canvas. There is a slight paint abrasion on these reliefs and at the lower left corner. Under UV light, there is no evidence of any retouching.

Catalogue Note

De 1938 à 1948, obéissant aux injonctions de voix intérieures, Crépin exécute des tableaux 'merveilleux' comme il les nomme lui-même, qui interpellent Breton lors de la première exposition collective d'Art Brut en 1948. Ses peintures médiumniques à l'imagerie naïve présentent, dans la dernière série que l'artiste exécute, un effet de relief lumineux créé par des petits points de peinture à la surface du tableau dont cette oeuvre est un exemple.
