Catalogue Note

This model, Naïades, was created by Lalique in 1926 and was in production until 1947. In Greek mythology, naiades were water-nymphs who gave vitality to fresh-water streams, rivers and wells. Symbiotically, they drew strength from the water, and if the source dried up, they too would die. They were frequently seen as agents of fertility and life and the roots of local health and wisdom.
