Catalogue Note
Reference 5070 was launched in 1998 and is one of the largest series produced wristwatches made by the company. The size and shape of the watch was based on a vintage oversized aviator-style split-seconds chronograph, ref. 2512; indeed, the dial of the 5070 is almost an exact replica of the ref.2512's. For images of the ref.2512, see Huber, M., & Banbery, A., Patek Philippe Wristwatches, Second Edition, p.274. Production of ref.5070 in yellow and white gold recently halted and it is believed that production of the pink gold model will cease shortly.
