Catalogue Note

The accompanying Extract from the Patek Philippe Archives confirms that this wristwatch was manufactured in 1947 and sold on April 5th, 1948. It is important to note that the Extract from the Patek Philippe Archives, dated November 2006, confirms that this wristwatch left the factory with the applied white gold Breguet numerals.

Production of reference 2422 began in 1946 and lasted for a decade. The present lot is the only platinum example currently known with Breguet numerals. A total of 15 other ref.2422 wristwatches are known with a platinum case, however, all of those feature either applied markers or diamond set numerals. Reference 2422 is an interesting model and its extended lugs render its appearance larger than many other square wristwatches of the period. To the best of our knowledge, this wristwatch is offered for the first time at auction.
