Catalogue Note
The accompanying Extract from the Patek Philippe Archives (dated March 2007) confirms that this wristwatch was manufactured in 1946, left the factory with gold Breguet numerals and was sold on August 21st, 1947.
The present lot is one of only two ‘indirect’ centre seconds reference 565 wristwatches currently known with a pink gold case. The other known example is one number different from the present wristwatch both in movement and case number (no.864.802 & 644.576 respectively - against 864.803 & 644.577 of the present watch); both these watches bear Breguet numerals.
Production of reference 565 began in 1939 and was made in two series. The first series featured a calibre 12SC, movement with indirect seconds work by Victorin Piguet, whilst the second utilised a calibre 27SC. In 1952 the model was replaced by ref.2533.
