18k, damascened nickel lever movement (cal.27SC), stamped twice with the seal of Geneva, 18 jewels, mono-metallic compensation balance, precision regulator, adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and 5 positions, silvered dial, applied faceted baton hour markers, circular case with faceted tear-drop lugs, case, dial and movement signed, accompanied by an Extract from the Archives

Catalogue Note

The accompanying Extract from the Patek Philippe Archives confirms that this wristwatch was manufactured in 1952 and sold on August 12th the same year.

Production of reference 1578 began in 1943 and ceased in the mid 1960s. Notable for its large case and unusual faceted tear-drop lugs, it was launched the same year as the ref.1579 chronograph which bears the same case design.
