Description
This sterling silver belt buckle commemorates the 1927 Tour of Japan by the Negro League Philadelphia Royal Stars, among the first professional baseball teams to play in Japan. The Stars, led by Hall of Famer Biz Mackey, went 23-0-1 against Japanese competition before travelling to Shanghi and Manila to play teams made up of US Marines. Both these trips are also noted on the front of the buckle. Back is stamped "STERLING HEACOCK Co" with a further notation "DONATED BY B. G. YU" and "I. CHOA." Buckle measures 1 5/16" by 2 1/2" and weighs 1.7 ozs.
