Description
Bright, never before touched baseball cards from the 2nd Series of Topps' 1960 production can be seen peeking through the clear, unmarked wrappers of these crisp and unopened 10 cent "cello" packs. Numbers ranging from 111 to 198 are visible, leading one to wonder if mint condition multiples of such stars as #'s 136 Kaat, 148 Yastrzemski (Rookie) and 160 Mantle/Boyer could he hiding inside. In fact, a pair of the packs feature the coveted Mantle/Boyer card on top (both PSA graded 5). Other notable cards featured on either the top or bottom of packs include: #164 Reds Team/#114 Face & Wilhelm (top/bottom, PSA graded 7), #173 Billy Martin (top, PSA graded 6), a second #173 Billy Martin (top, PSA graded 6), and #114 Face & Wilhelm (bottom, PSA graded 7). All of these very scarce packs have each been graded and encapsulated by PSA. The complete breakdown of the packs' grades are: PSA NM-MT 8: 1 pack; PSA NM 7: 11 packs; PSA EX-MT 6: 18 packs; PSA EX 5: 5 packs. It is worth noting that all packs are tightly sealed, showing no immediately visible signs of handling in spite of PSA stringent grading standards. Still accompanying the packs is the original, Topps store counter top box, that has served to protect its contents since their departure from the factory more than four decades ago. With the emergence of PSA’s set registry, and the frenzied demand for high-grade commons, unopened material of this vintage has become increasingly scarce. NOTE: the catalogue image shows the box in its original state, prior to the grading and encapsulation of the all of the packs.
