Description
Long before the days of "Air Jordan" and "Showtime" there were the shake, rattle and roll moves of Earl Monroe. During his senior year at Winston Salem College in North Carolina, Monroe not only averaged 41 points per game on 60% shooting and led the team to the Division II National Championship, but his twisting, spinning, faking, double-pumping, spin-dribbling moves were so spectacular that a local sportswriter called them "Earl's Pearls". The ensuing nickname Earl "The Pearl" followed Monroe to the NBA, where he won Rookie of the Year honors with the Baltimore Bullets in 1968. In 1971, the Bullets traded Monroe to the New York Knicks, where he harnessed his flamboyant style to fit a talent laden Knicks team that featured DeBusschere, Bradley, Reed Frazier and Lucas. Monroe won his only NBA championship with New York in 1973. This New York Knicks home mesh uniform was worn by the Hall of Fame guard in the late 1970’s. On the left tail of the jersey is the exclusive "Sand Knit" tagging including a label with the size "46" next to a white patch indicating 3 inches of extra length. All lettering and number are correct including the name "Monroe" on the back and his number "15" on both the front and back in orange tackle twill on a blue tackle twill backing. The matching shorts feature similar manufacturer's tagging and both items show excellent game use. LOAs from MEARS (A10) and Grey Flannel.
