Description
Jones spent all of his twelve seasons in the NBA with the Boston Celtics. Known as a clutch scorer, he amassed more than15,000 points in his career. A member of five NBA All-Star teams, Jones is usually mentioned among the four best guards of the 1960's, behind Oscar Robertson, Jerry West and Hal Greer. However, Sam Jones won seven more NBA championships than his three peers combined. He played on ten championship teams (1959-66 and 1968-69)--a total exceeded only by teammate Bill Russell in NBA history. Jones' perfect form when shooting a jump shot, along with his great clutch shooting led opponents to nickname him "The Shooter". At 6-foot-4, Jones was the prototype of the tall guard who could run the floor, bang the boards and had a rangy offensive game that gave opponents fits. Jones led the league in scoring three times and his 2,909 points scored in 154 playoff games (18.9 ppg) is 15th best in league history. This Boston Celtics road dureen jersey was worn by the Hall of Famer during the early 1960's. On the left tail is the "Wilson" label and across the front of the jersey is the name "Boston." His player number "24" appears on both the front and back of the shirt. All the letters and numbers are made of white tackle twill and Jones has autographed the front. A pair of matching shorts are included. Accompanying the jersey is a letter from Sam Jones himself stating that this was his jersey. The jersey shows outstanding game use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. LOAs from MEARS (A10) and Grey Flannel.
