Description

After only three years as a Major League manager Casey Stengel began what would become a long tradition of being feted by his many admirers. The Hugh Travers Association hosted a dinner in Casey's honor on December 5th, 1936. Judging from the quality of this watch, presented to him that night, as well as these elaborately designed programs, it must have been an elegant affair. Made by Audemars Piguet & Co., the watch is crafted in platinum with diamonds decorating the perimeter as well as the face. The filigreed watch chain is in white gold adorned with diamonds. On the back of the watch is the engraving, "'To the Salt of The Earth' Charles 'Casey' Stengel by The Hugh Travers Assn. Inc. December 5, 1936." A small dent appears on the back of the case, otherwise condition is excellent. Two accompanying programs are in VG-EX condition. LOA from the Stengel family.
