Description
Each of these portrait images is an ideal demonstration of the brilliance of Conlon and Burke, baseball's most renowned photographers. Burke's circa 1912-17 image captures Stengel as a player with the Brooklyn Dodgers. The photographer’s stamp appears on the back of the 8" by 10" photo, which is in excellent condition. Conlon's lens caught Stengel during his brief two year stint (1924-25) as a player with the Boston Braves. His stamp on the back of the photo reads "Charles M. Conlon Evening Telegram New York." Apart from missing a 1/2" piece of the lower left corner, affecting the margins only, the 6 1/2" by 8 1/2" photo is in excellent condition. LOA from the Stengel family.
